When Trish and Dave arrived in Australia they changed their band name to 'Sahara'. Over the years Sahara's music has become subtly different - a marriage of sounds and influences between the Northern and Southern hemispheres 'the mist meeting the haze'. Ireland and Australia possessing such definably different cultures and weather that the resulting music from Sahara includes some lighter, brighter tones being added to the rich earthy moodiness of their Celtic sound.
Since arriving in Australia Sahara has performed constantly and has supported the likes of 'The Little River Band' and the renowned UK jazz guitarist Martin Taylor. Sahara has performed in Festivals, Mardi Gras, Pubs, Clubs, Town Halls, Theatres and Performing Arts Centres along with countless live to air radio performances and various appearance on TV shows. Shortly arter arriving in Australia Sahara had a memorable win on the 'New Faces' series hosted by Daryl Somers not only winning their heat with one of the highest scores but also picking up the encouragement award for their original composition 'Thinking of You'. Sahara later released an album 'Thinking of You' and TV 8 Gippsland recorded a video of this song for their Wednesday Magazine show hosted by Denise Drysdale. Sahara also appeared on the Channel 7's Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
With the release of 'Vision' Sahara's debut independent CD - the sound of Sahara has spread further afield - hitting overseas when 'Vision' was selected as the new Australian CD of the week on Radio Australia's 'Oz Sounds' program. This was followed by success on the Internet when two tracks off 'Vision' - 'Make My Day' and 'Ordinary Day' were both voted No.1 on the Soundclick First Internet Charts. ‘Make My Day' remained in the No.1 position for four weeks running resulting in an interview that was broadcast Australia wide on the ABC TV evening news. Sahara made several appearances on TV shows hosted by Bert Newton, Denise Drysdale and Ernie Sigley. The 'Sahara live @ The Malthouse' concert was a terrific success with the concert being webcast on several occasions from the Celtic TV website based in New York. Sahara composed an original soundtrack for the ABC TV Australian Story episode 'Track Winding Back' based on the novel 'Jackson's Track'. This episode received the United Nations Media Award.
Sahara's music has been used in an international travel promotion for the tour company Ireland Exotic that played in over 300 BlockBuster outlets throughout Mexico.
